The Appointments screen collects every follow-up visit, referral, and check-up that appeared in your discharge paperwork and presents them in one place. AfterCare pulls the provider name, specialty, location, address, date, time, and any notes directly from your document — nothing is looked up or assumed.

What each appointment card shows

  • Provider name — the doctor, clinic, or department listed in your paperwork.
  • Specialty — for example, Cardiology or Wound Care, when your document included it.
  • Date and time — the scheduled date and time extracted from the text.
  • Location and address — the facility name and street address, when present.
  • Notes — any additional instructions your document included for that visit.

Adding an appointment to your calendar

When an appointment has a confirmed date, AfterCare can generate an ICS calendar file for it. Open the appointment from the list and use the calendar export option — your device will prompt you to open the file with your default calendar app.
The exported ICS file works with every major calendar application — Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and any app that supports the standard iCalendar format. You can share the file with a family member or carer so they have the appointment details too.

Appointments without a date

Not every follow-up in a discharge summary includes a confirmed date. When AfterCare finds a visit that your document mentions but doesn’t schedule — for example, “Book a wound check in two weeks” — it lists the appointment without a confirmed date so you know you still need to call and arrange it.
An undated appointment is not a bug — it means your paperwork mentioned the visit but left the scheduling to you. Contact the provider directly to book it, then add the confirmed date to your calendar manually.

Confidence and source tracing

Like every other piece of information in AfterCare, each appointment is linked to the line number in your document where it was found. If an appointment detail looks incorrect, check the original line and confirm with the provider’s office before your visit.
