AfterCare’s accessibility settings let you adjust how the app looks and feels so that reading your recovery guide is as comfortable as possible. Every setting is stored on this device, so your choices stay in place whenever you return. Open Settings → Accessibility from the navigation bar to get started.
AfterCare reads your operating-system preferences the first time you visit. If your device is already set to reduce motion, use a dark theme, or raise contrast, AfterCare automatically honours those choices — you don’t have to repeat them here. Any setting you change in AfterCare always takes priority over the system default.

Available settings

The table below describes each option and how to use it.
Controls how large the body text appears across every screen.Tap the A, A+, or A++ chip next to the Text size row to apply your choice instantly.
Controls the vertical gap between lines of text, which can ease reading fatigue.Tap Standard, Relaxed, or Loose in the Line spacing row to switch.
Increases the visual separation between text and its background, making content easier to read for users with low vision or light sensitivity. Toggle the switch in the High contrast row to turn it on or off.
Switches AfterCare to a dark background with light text. This reduces glare in low-light environments and can lower eye strain for many users. Toggle the switch in the Dark mode row.
Disables animations and CSS transitions throughout the app. Enable this if movement on screen causes discomfort or distraction. AfterCare detects the OS-level Reduce Motion preference automatically on first visit.
Switches the app typeface to one designed for improved readability for users with dyslexia. Toggle the switch in the Dyslexia-friendly font row.
Increases the minimum tap-target size for all interactive controls to 48 × 48 px, meeting WCAG 2.5.8 (Target Size — AAA). This makes buttons and toggles much easier to tap on a touchscreen. Toggle the switch in the Bigger buttons row.
Controls how fast the read-aloud voice speaks when you use the Read this page to me button in the navigation bar.Drag the slider in the Read-aloud speed row left to slow the voice down (minimum: 0.6× normal speed) or right to speed it up (maximum: 1.4× normal speed). The new speed takes effect the next time you start read-aloud.See Read-Aloud Mode for full instructions on starting, stopping, and adjusting playback.

Where settings are stored

AfterCare saves your accessibility preferences on this device. Because the storage is device-specific, the same account on a different device or browser starts from the system defaults again. Adjust any setting on that device and it will be remembered going forward.
Clearing your browser’s site data will reset all accessibility settings to their defaults. If you do this accidentally, simply re-open the Accessibility screen and reapply your preferences.
