# Introduction to AfterCare and Its Safety Guarantee

> AfterCare reads your hospital discharge paperwork and builds a structured recovery plan. Learn about its safety guarantee and eight core features.

AfterCare is a web application that reads the discharge paperwork you receive when you leave hospital and turns it into a recovery plan you can actually follow. It extracts your medications, upcoming appointments, warning signs, and daily instructions directly from your document, then presents them in plain language on any device — readable or spoken aloud.

## The safety guarantee

Every piece of information AfterCare shows you comes from your uploaded document. AfterCare does not generate clinical information from general knowledge, does not fill in gaps with assumptions, and does not invent dosages, dates, or warning signs. Each extracted item carries a confidence score and a reference to the exact line of the original document it came from. If AfterCare cannot find solid support for a piece of information, it either drops that item or flags it for you to check in the original text.

<Warning>
  AfterCare explains a document you already have. It does not diagnose, does not recommend treatment, and does not replace your care team. If you have questions about your treatment, contact your provider.
</Warning>

This guarantee is built into the way AfterCare works, not just stated as a policy. After your document is read and structured, a separate verification pass re-reads the original text and checks every extracted item against it. Any item that cannot be confirmed against a real line in your document is either removed from your guide entirely or flagged for you to verify in the original — it will never appear as settled fact.
