# Your Medication Schedule and Dose Tracking in AfterCare

> See every medication from your discharge paperwork — name, dose, timing, food notes, and confidence level — and mark each dose taken as you go.

The Medications screen lists every drug your discharge paperwork mentioned, exactly as it was written. AfterCare never adds medications that aren't in your document, and every entry is traced back to the specific line it came from. If something looks wrong, that line reference tells you exactly where to check.

## What you see for each medication

Each medication card shows:

* **Name** — the brand name and, where present, the generic name below it.
* **Dose and frequency** — for example, *500 mg · Twice daily*.
* **Purpose** — a short description of why the medication was prescribed.
* **Timing chips** — coloured badges showing **Morning**, **Afternoon**, and **Evening** slots that apply to this medication. Active slots are highlighted.
* **Expanded details** — tap **Details** on any card to reveal food instructions, possible side effects listed in your document, and what to do if you miss a dose.

<Tip>
  Tap **Details** on a medication card to see food instructions (e.g. *take with
  food*) and any missed-dose guidance your document included — these come
  directly from your paperwork, not from a generic database.
</Tip>

## Marking a dose as taken

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to Today's Plan or Medications">
    Both screens show a **Mark taken** checkbox for each medication that is due
    today.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tick the checkbox">
    Tap or click the checkbox next to **Mark taken**. AfterCare records the
    timestamp so your adherence history is always up to date.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm all doses for the day">
    Once every dose for that medication is ticked, the label changes to
    **All doses taken** and the checkbox is locked to prevent accidental
    double-logging.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review your progress">
    The counter beneath each medication (for example, *1 of 2 today*) updates
    immediately so you can see how many doses remain in the day.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Morning, afternoon, and evening slots

AfterCare divides each day into three slots based on the timing instructions in your document:

* **Morning** — medications your paperwork says to take in the morning or first thing.
* **Afternoon** — midday or lunchtime doses.
* **Evening** — bedtime or end-of-day doses.

If a medication has no fixed time (for example, *take as needed for pain*), it appears under **Only if you need it** on Today's Plan rather than in a timed slot.

## Confidence indicators

Every medication AfterCare extracts carries a confidence score that reflects how clearly the information appeared in your document.

<Info>
  High-confidence medications are displayed normally. If AfterCare is uncertain
  about a detail — for instance, the dose was partially obscured in a scanned
  image — a lower confidence score is recorded against that field.
</Info>

<Warning>
  If a medication has low confidence, AfterCare flags it visibly on the card.
  Check the original line of your document before acting on that information,
  and confirm the details with your pharmacist or care team if you are unsure.
</Warning>

## Source tracing

Every medication card is linked to the line number in your original document where that information was found. This means you can always verify what AfterCare extracted against your paperwork — nothing is inferred from general medical knowledge.
